Food You Should Not Serve at Your Wedding Reception

Jacob Lewis
A Marriage ceremony is not just an event, but, it is the greatest occasion in one's life, as it means association of two people, who feel complete after finding each other. Naturally, there are many facets of this event. It takes a lot, even a year or two, for the two people to finally decide to get married. They have to make a number of arrangements before they are ready for the wedding!

As wedding is an important event, the couple has to think and plan about a lot of things. Of course, wedding planners can be hired, if you can afford their services, but, still you will have to make a lot of selections during the whole event. Generally, most of the people consider only the issues like the wedding dresses, list of the invitees, and gift registry. But, there are some other things as well, which should be properly thought about. Food is also one of them.

What most of the wedding planners and couples do is to choose a famous caterer and hire his services. Then, they leave everything to him. Probably, they are not aware of the fact that the selection of food to be served at the function can have a remarkable impact on the success of this event. So, it is important to think well about this.

It is a fact unknown to or ignored by many of the people that some particular food items could be the best choice for a wedding reception. On the other hand, one should avoid selecting some of the dishes. Some people may wonder how the choice of food can affect the success of the reception. But, if logically thought, one can see that it makes sense.

All of the marriage ceremonies are unique events in themselves. The diversity in the list of invited guests is one of the essential elements that make each wedding different from all others. All of the families invited as guests have a lot of different people with different choices. Some of these families usually have a fusion of different cultures. Hence, it is important to think about what food items to choose, as people from a particular culture may feel offended if a particular dish is served.

For Instance, a Jew would not be happy to see pork served to him. So, if some of your guests belong to Jewish community, you would have to rethink about having pork on your list. Similarly, you can imagine the reaction of a vegetarian, if he is offered fish or meat! The same is true about the drinks. Before selecting wine for the ceremony, it would be good to go through the list of invited guests to make sure that they won't feel offended by presence of alcohol. This is important because many of them can feel so due to their religious views. There is also a possibility that some of them are trying to recover from alcoholic and your decision can attract them to fall from the wagon!

One more point which must be considered while thinking about the food is to be cautious about the food items which are responsible for bad breath. Kissing is among the popular wedding activities. But, it could become very unpleasant, if a lot of food items have elements like onion or garlic. Similarly, consideration of the meat to be served is also important. Some of them couples may want to do something different and can decide on serving some kind of wild meat. But, it would not necessarily be liked by the guests.

Before you finalizing the list, you must not forget to decide the number of courses that would be served. If they are limited to only one or two, then it is fine. But, if you plan to serve more of them, then it is necessary to choose the lighter food for the initial courses, otherwise, your guests will soon be filled up.
