It is always smart to increase your fluid intake when you have food poisoning. The reason for this is because you do not want your body to become dehydrated. Drink a lot of fluids, but take small sips so that it goes down okay. Drinking too fast may make you sicker than you already are.

When you have food poisoning you have to be careful about what types of drinks you drink. Do not drink sugary drinks. Also do not have any drinks with caffeine. Another way to treat food poisoning is to drink rehydration drinks. For example, drink Pedialyte. These types of drinks are made to rehydrate your body. It will help you fight being dehydrated which is one of the number one health concerns when a person has food poisoning.

Once your stomach starts to feel better, try eating some food. Bland food is great for getting your body to feel healthy again. Saltine crackers are a good starter food for when your stomach starts to settle down. Unsalted ones saltine crackers are better than salted ones because salt is known to cause dehydration. Also try soup and cereal because both are good foods to eat when you start to recover from food poisoning.

The best way to avoid food poisoning is to make sure you always wash your hands when you cook. Make sure that you cook your food according to the directions. Also make sure you keep a clean kitchen. If you are out in a restaurant, send back your food if it does not smell right. Always watch out for wild mushrooms and raw foods. For example, eating raw oysters can easily go bad and make you sick. These are the best ways to prevent food poisoning.
