Food Review: Bali's Best Espresso Candy

Sophie Spyrou

Hard sweets come in handy when you are dealing with a bout of nausea or when you are flying. I recently tried Bali's Best Espresso Candy and was impressed with my findings.

Price

I was recently shopping for some hard sweets to take with me on the plane to help with the change in air pressure, as my ears are always susceptible to such changes. I noticed a variety of sweets to choose from, but I settled for Bali's Best Espresso Candy. I paid just $1 for a 150g (5.3) bag, which is a great deal in my book. Although I am not usually a fan of coffee, I enjoy the taste in cakes and other sweets.

Product Description

Bali's Best Espresso Candy has a hard outer shell, but a soft Espresso centre, made with real coffee. According to the product description, Bali's Best Espresso Candy is made from rich Sumatran coffee, found in Indonesia. Each bag contains individually wrapped sweets. I expected to find 42 sweets, as listed, but there were 43 in my bag.

Nutrition Facts

Each 14g (4 pieces) serving size of Bali's Best Espresso Candy contains 52 calories, 8 of which are from fat, 1g saturated fat, 16mg sodium, 12g carbohydrate, 1g dietary fibre and 8g sugar.

I was expecting this bag of sweets to be higher in fat, sugar and salt. I was therefore surprised to learn that the fat, sugar and salt content were lower than I had expected. Bali's Best Espresso Candy are cholesterol-free.

Warning

Bali's Best Espresso Candy contains milk, so if you are lactose intolerant you will need to avoid this product in order to prevent an allergic reaction.

Taste Test

I was instantly impressed with the taste of Bali's Best Espresso Candy. Each sweet provided a strong burst of flavour and taste. I also really liked the soft centre. It does not take long for the hard outer shell to soften, so if you are tired of sucking a hard sweet for a long time until it dissolves, you will not have that problem with Bali's Best Espresso Candy.

Recommendation

Bali's Best Espresso Candy was affordable, tasty and well worth it. But this product is not suitable for those who have a milk allergy. I would certainly consider buying this product again and would recommend Bali's Best Espresso Candy.
