Food Review: Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's

Sophie Spyrou

Raspberry ruffles have been adored by scores of British children over the years (me included). They consist of a raspberry coconut fondant cream encased in tasty dark chocolate. For those who wish to step back in time to relive their childhood trips to the sweet shop on the way home from school, or for those willing to try something new, Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's are sure to please.

Price and Availability

When I recently came across a 5-bar pack of Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's for £1, I bought a pack. That works out to just 20p per 26g serving, which is a great deal if you are trying to pinch the pennies.

Nutrition Facts

Each 26g serving contains 130 calories, 0.9g protein, 20.3g carbohydrates, of which 19g are sugars, 3.3g saturated fat, 1.3g fibre, a trace of sodium, and 0.01g equivalent as salt.

Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's are fairly low in calories, which is good, but they are high in carbohydrates and sugar. So if you are watching your carbohydrate or sugar intake, you will not want to overindulge in this product.

Ingredients

This product contains sugar, dark chocolate (20%), soya lecithins, dessicated coconut, glucose syrup, natural colour (beetroot red), flavourings, invertase, citric acid, (dark chocolate contains 45% cocoa solids minimum).

Warning

Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's contains soya products and it may also contain traces of milk and sulfites. If you are allergic to any of these ingredients, you will need to exercise due caution.

Halal and Vegetarian Approved

Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's have been approved for consumption by Muslims and vegetarians. So if you are concerned about whether this product is suitable, you can rest assured that Raspberry Ruffle Bars will meet your dietary and/or religious convictions.

Taste Test

I have always enjoyed the taste of Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's , so this product did not fail to disappoint. It had the same sweet taste I remembered from my childhood. The dark chocolate adds a touch of decadence.

Recommendation

Although Raspberry Ruffle Bars by Jameson's are not a diet food, and I would not recommend them as an every day snack, they are a tasty snack to eat on occasion. This product is suitable for Muslims, vegetarians and makes a nice change from other snacks. I would therefore recommend this product.
