Food Review: Salad Mate Brand Salad Dressings from Aldi

I try to find the best bargain for the money on everything and food is no different. Salad dressing has gone up in price over the past year, so I have been trying different brands, looking for one that's low cost but has a good taste. I think I have tried every store brand out there but I finally found some I really like..Salad Mate Italian , Blue Cheese and Thousand Island dressings from Aldi Foods. If you are like me you use dressing for more than just salads, so it can get pricey if you use it a lot.

Many people are scared to try anything other that the name brands they have known for years. They think if it's cheap it won't taste good. That's not always the case. Granted there are some products that are not as good a quality as a name brand, but now days a good bit of store brands are made by the same companies that make the bigger name brands. Many people don't know this and so they never try a store brand. Manufacturers produce items for stores at a reduced rate since they are usually buying a large amount. The store label is put on and no one knows the difference.

These dressings are just as good as the higher priced name brands if not better. The Italian is a little thicker than the other guys, but has more little bits of onion and garlic which I like. Just like any other Italian dressing you have to shake it up to mix it some. It makes great pasta salad, and it's even good on burgers. Sounds weird I know but it gives a new flavor to them. Use it as a marinade for steaks and chicken too.

The Blue Cheese is pretty good also. It 's a bit more tangy then most other blue cheese dressings, but it's still fairly thick and has small chunks of blue cheese in it. Use it to top burgers, steaks and baked potatoes. I dip fries and chicken tenders in it too.

The Thousand Island is just as good as the other guys. Thick and creamy, this is good on a burger. Kind of like those double burgers from that famous burger place. Full of chunks of pickles and other good stuff. Believe it or not I have heard of using it on a sandwich, like the old timey sandwich spread.

I would recommend any of these dressings. For quality and value you can't go wrong with this brand.
