Food Reviews of Buehlers Jumbo Buttermilk Biscuits,Reggano Italian Pasta Salad and Happy Farms Mexican Style Chili Beans from Aldi

It's all about saving money these days, especially on food. You don't have to give up good taste for value anymore. If you haven't tried Aldi foods I recommend you do. I buy 90% of my groceries there. There are a few things I still get from my local chain store that Aldi doesn't carry, but most everything else comes from there. They have almost everything you need there.

We are going to review three of our favorites here. The first one is Buehlers Jumbo Buttermilk Biscuits. If you like Grands you will like these. They taste the same and bake the same. I thought my husband may be able to tell the difference the first time I bought them, but he thinks they are even better! They are also less expensive than the name brand. A can of 8 costs right at $1.19. I have noticed different Aldi stores may vary in price a little, so your store may be a few cents different.

Here is the nutrition info..

Number two on the list is Reggano Italian Pasta Salad. This stuff is just plain good. I use the Aldi brand Italian Dressing when I make this. I used to get the name brand stuff, but since trying this I never buy anything else and the husband will only eat this. It has the same tri- color twirly pasta as the other brands and the seasoning is every bit as good. I like it because the flavor is mellow but still Italian. It's not as harsh as some of the others I don't think.

Nutrition info on a 6.4 oz box is as follows..remember this is without the dressing added.

Now for one of my very favorite things from Aldi..Happy Farms Mexican Style Chili Beans. We love beans of all kinds, especially something like chili beans. These are flavored with a mexican flavor that reminds you of taco seasoning. I love these. We use them as a plain side dish mostly, but you can add them to your taco salad or burritos. They are good warmed with grated cheese on top too. Really these work well in just about any mexican recipe, especially if you don't happen to have any refried beans. Beans are good for you, they are a great source of fiber and they are fat free!

I also shop at Aldi's but all three of the delicious things reviewed here are high in fat, high in calories, and high in sodium. The biscuits also have poisonous trans fat for which zero grams is the only safe amount for our diets. Buy the dry beans and soak overnight to reduce sodium about 90%. I love Aldi's but I wish their suppliers would modernize their products to increase MUFA's and reduce sodium and eliminate trans fats entirely. Still have to read the labels!
