You've had the baby and things are starting to get back to normal in your life--well almost back to normal, except for that stubborn belly fat that just won't seem to budge. No more ice cream, no more chocolate, goodbye fried foods and cheese--yet that baby fat just still seems to linger. If you find yourself fighting stubborn belly fat post partum then maybe you should rethink the foods that you eat. While there seems to be no such thing as foods that really are negative calorie, there are some that have been proven to help fight against the stubborn fat cells that plague us post partum. These foods actually will help to reduce the amount of belly fat that is keeping you warm in the winter!

Green Tea: Ever notice how health the Chinese and Japanese seem to look well into old age? Ever think about the amount of tea that these cultures consume? Green tea is an excellent antioxidant and it also helps to reduce that stubborn post partum fat that lingers on. At zero calories per serving, you can afford to drink it throughout the day and the natural caffeine will help keep your pep up thus reducing even more fat in the body.

Avocados: Avocados are an essential for fat burning. Although these little fruits are actually high in monounsaturated fat, they are actually very healthy and are said to contain some of the same health benefits as olive oil. We all need a little fat in our diet and an avocado is the perfect addition to a salad. Say no to the cheese and place some avocado slices on the salad instead for a wholesome and healthy treat that will help fight off belly fat.

Grapefruit: Ever heard of the grapefruit diet? Well, like all diets there was probably some truth in there underneath all the misconception and craze. In fact, grapefruits have been clinically proven to help speed up weight loss due to their acidity which actually slows the digestion process thus resulting in the ability to feel full longer. Anytime you can feel like you are still full an hour after you ate is a good thing--as long as you didn't actually overeat that much!

Whole Grain Breads and Pastas: Some of us are just suckers for pasta and bread! I know I am! However, if you must have bread and pasta the best thing you can do for stubborn post partum belly fat is to eat whole grain versions of your favorites. Not only do the whole grain versions of these foods still taste great, they usually come with a lower calorie tag and far less fat than their white enriched couterparts. Trade that sandwich for a whole grain pita pocket or at least a couple of slices of wheat bread for a belly blasting treat that is both filling and tasty.
