Foods to Avoid to Keep GERD Symptoms from Ruining Your Life

Bradley Jones
Before we discuss the many GERD foods to avoid, let's talk about what GERD is exactly so we know more about the disease. It's important to know what you're dealing with.

One of the most common indigestion diseases that many people get and suffer from daily is known as the gastroesophageal reflux disease, which is also referred to as GERD.

This condition can be very painful. The symptoms are extremely similar to those of heart conditions including an incoming heart attack. So if you experience any of the following symptoms, make sure you check with a medical professional to determine that is indeed GERD before you take any action.

GERD Symptoms Include:

- Tightness or Burning in Chest
- Sharp Chest Pains
- Sharp Arm Pains
- Burning in the Throat

As mentioned, many of these GERD symptoms are similar to those found in heart conditions. But if it turns out that it is GERD that you have, there are things you can do to help yourself from being burdened with the pain of this disease.

One important thing you can do is figure out what GERD foods to avoid and keep them out of your diet so you don't have to worry about triggering the pain associated with eating them.

Most foods that you should stay away from when you have GERD are foods that are high in fat or foods that are very acidic. This means staying away from greasy cheeseburgers, hot dogs, lemons and other fruits high in acid, and even soda. Caffeine has been determined to be a major trigger for those suffering with GERD.
