In addition to eating a low-fat and low-carb diet, there are foods that should be avoided, especially for those with Multiple Sclerosis and other autoimmune illnesses. While there are a number of foods on the 'to avoid list,' two in particular are essential to take note of.
What are the Two Most Important Foods to Avoid for a Healthier You?
- Sugar:
This processed sugar prevents your autoimmune system from working properly. According to Dr. Henry Zhen-Hong Lee, a well-known acupuncturist, it stops the immune cells from functioning.
It also acts as a catalyst for candida, a living organism that can grow in the body. Some Candida species have the potential to cause disease. One species in particular, Candida albicans can cause infections in humans and animals, especially for those with autoimmune illnesses.
There are many other dangers that refined sugar poses to your health, such as adrenal fatigue, hypoglycemia, and diabetes. This list goes on and on.
- Processed foods
According to the World Health Organization, these very convenient and appetizing processed foods are the cause of the increase in obesity and chronic disease worldwide. Multiple Sclerosis is one of the illnesses that is on the rise.
Did you ever wonder why processed foods last so long? Why do they usually taste better than what you can prepare at home? The answer is simple: they include food colors, flavor enhancers, preservatives, stabilizers, and even bleach.
Is it any wonder why these health-stealing foods should be avoided? If a bottle were labeled Poison would you drink it? It's up to you to be careful of what you're putting into your body. Products that are labeled Healthy, or Natural, are not necessarily good for you. Always read ingredients!
