Foods that Fight Cancer and Cancer Enhancers (to Be Avoided)

Craig Olson
Introduction
"It is once again Nobel-prize winning Linus Pauling, PhD with Ewan Cameron, MD, a Scottish cancer surgeon, who have demonstrated the effectiveness of ten grams (10,000 mg) of vitamin C a day in reversing terminal cancer in thirteen out of 100 patients. These patients were given up as lost by medical authorities." Dr. Andrew Saul (1)
"The seemingly inane remarks by his counterculture passengers prompted Sattilaro to try a rigid meatless macrobiotic diet, high in whole grains, beans and vegetables. Astonishingly, it worked. In a matter of months, his physicians could not find any trace of cancer in his body." Saul (1)
Saul is very controversial. He does have a positive attitude, which I admire. People who give up don't make great accomplishments.
Vitamin C
Refs. 2 & 3 support vitamin C as a treatment. The following foods are high in vitamin C (4): Acerola fruit, aloe vera juice, black currant, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, capsicum, cauliflower, citrus fruits, citrus fruits, collards, currants, grapefruit, guava, kale, lemons, mango, oranges, papayas, parsley, potatoes, rose hips, spinach, strawberries, sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, tangerines, tomatoes, watercress. Fermentation of sorbitol.
Also vitamin D and folic acid are thought to fight cancer. Beta-carotene is also thought to fight it.
Flavonoids
Flavonoids are plant pigments that have good properties. At one time they were called vitamin P. They are only found in plants. Flavonoids are rich in the following foods (4):
Apricots, bark, black currants, blue and red berries, buckwheat, cherries, elderberry, fruits, grapes, grapefruit, garlic, green tea, green vegetables, hawthorne berry, horsetail, lemons, nuts, oil, oranges, onions, peppers, prunes, rose hips, soy beans, the peels of citrus fruits, and shepherd's purse.
Bad Substances
Bad substances include red meats, considered a risk factor for colon cancer, nitrites, sugar, and fat. To avoid nitrites organic foods are suggested. These additives are put in hot dogs and luncheon meats.
The Vegetarian Diet
"As rates of obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other life-threatening conditions skyrocket in the United States, many researchers and medical experts come to the same conclusion: A vegetarian diet can help protect your health and even reverse some diseases, including the most common one-heart disease." COK (Compassion over Killing)
The above quote is from Ref. 16. Further information is on the main COK website, which is Ref. 17. These two websites are run by the animal rights group.
"Vegetarians have the best diet. They have the lowest rates of coronary disease of any group in the country...a fraction of our heart attack rate and they have only 40 percent of our cancer rate."
-William Castelli, M.D., Director, Framingham Heart Study, the longest-running epidemiological study in medical history
Conclusions
A study was done on Seventh-Day Adventists, who are vegetarians (18). Their cancer rates were less than the average population. Ref. 19 promotes the vegetarian diet for obesity. Ref. 20, also by Ornish, reports benefit to prostate cancer from a vegetarian diet. Ornish favors low-fat diets, much like Pritikin. Ref. 21 provides technical information on how the vegetarian diet and the vegan diet, which has no animal products, help fight a number of chronic diseases including cancer, heart disease, obesity, etc. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is fought by these diets.
