Foods that Help Fight Allergies

Jennifer Kirkman
There are a number of foods that can help a person to fight off allergy problems. In this article, I'd like to talk about what is best not to eat for allergies, and then go over what foods are best in order to help allergy attacks and problems.

First of all, in order to know which foods are best to fight or prevent allergies, you need to know what NOT to do. So let's lay all the cards out on the table in that manner, and go from there.

Products such as protein in milk or what is called casein, is NOT a good thing for a person with chronic allergies to be consuming. Casein is a protein that is not only found in milk, but in things like instant potatoes, instant soups, cake mixes contain it, along with your many of your sweets and salad dressings. Also be aware that some nuts may also have casein's. In order to find out for certain on this, read your nutritional labels entirely before buying.

Dairy products such as cow's milk, or milk from a goat are much better and safer choices. These dairy foods are made up much differently than regular milk, and shouldn't affect a person's allergies.

One of the foods that help to fend off allergy problems are the ones that contain Omega-3's. Foods containing your Omega 3's are most types of fish, and various types of oils such as flaxseed oil,and primrose oils. Olive Oil is your best way to work in mono unsaturated fats.

Whole grain sources which are high in fiber are wonderful for helping the good bacteria exist within the walls of the colon. The good bacteria helps prevent food allergy problems as a whole. Your best sources of fiber are by eating fresh fruits and vegetables at least 4-5 servings daily.

Fresh fruit juices are also very good for the prevention of food allergy problems. Just don't buy canned juices that contain large amounts of sugars and syrups.Instead, squeeze out oranges, grapefruits, etc., to get the health benefits and antioxidants out of those fruits.

Yogurt, (Activia especially, ) is a yogurt that stimulates the good healthy bacteria growth. A study that has been done previously, demonstrated that persons having food allergy problems were nearly cured through the consumption of yogurt.

People that have a difficult time with allergy related to asthma symptoms may benefit from eating foods that contain zinc and also magnesium. Scientists have discovered in their studies of asthma causes, that asthmatic people are lacking in zinc as well as the mineral magnesium. By including pro biotic yogurts, poultry, and lean cuts of ham or beef in their diet, asthmatics may find that their breathing problems are much better. For the magnesium requirement, you can get this from vegetables such as asparagus, and broccoli. Include the legumes as well such as snow peas, and dried beans.

Resveratrol, mostly found in purple grape skins, is a compound that helps the immunity, and therefore is helpful in fighting food allergies. One cup of purple grapes contains a full dose of resveratrol.Purple grapes also have another substance called tannins. Tannins are natural antibiotics which help to build up the immune system along with the resveratrol you are getting.

So in summing up what we have learned here, it all boils down to choosing the right foods which fight against allergy and asthma triggers. By following these suggestions, you may find yourself with a better immune system, and better health in the process.
