Foods that Help Prevent Wrinkles

Some Foods We Eat Can Actually Help Prevent Wrinkles

Bev Cohen
No one likes wrinkles! We spend money on creams and lotions in hopes of warding off those unwanted lines. Some pay money to have surgery hoping to ward off the hands of time. One important thing we can do in this fight against wrinkles is to eat foods that are good for our skin, foods that slow the production of wrinkles. Processed foods contains ingredients that are not good for our skin such as salts and fats. Try some of these naturally healthy foods to prevent wrinkles.

Tomatoes

This delicious vegetable is loaded with antioxidants. Antioxidants help to decrease the loss of collagen and elasticity which can lead to wrinkles and therefore the appearance of premature aging.

Fish

Fish, especially salmon, contains a lot of omega 3 fatty acids which helps to reduce wrinkles. Another benefit is that omega 3 fatty acids help to reduce inflammation in the skin.

Red Peppers

The reason that red peppers help prevent wrinkles is because they are filled with vitamins A and E which are both good for the skin. They also contain a substance called bioflavonoids which can help heal your skin as well as moisturize it.

Beans

Beans are a good source of hyaluronic acid which we have in our bodies when we are young. The amount of hyaluronic acid in our bodies diminishes as we grow older, causing premature wrinkling. Eating beans helps to increase the level of this acid.

Blackberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, and Plums

These four foods all have a high antioxidant content. In a study recently published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, these four fruits weighed in with the highest total antioxidant capacity of any food. Therefore, the benefits of consuming these foods for healthy skin are plentiful.

Green Tea

Free radicles are naturally occurring particles in the body associated with accelerated aging. One of the benefits of drinking green tea is that it is rich in antioxidants which help protect the body from free radicals.
