Bananas
The best thing to eat or drink for raising your potassium levels right away are bananas. If you are suffering from low potassium this is the first thing the doctors will tell you to eat right away. Bananas are super high in potassium. If you want to keep your potassium levels low, definitely do not eat bananas. Only eat bananas if you want to raise your potassium levels fast.
Fruit
Besides bananas there is other fruit that is high in potassium. When the doctor said "Eat an apple a day, to keep the doctor away" he wasn't kidding. Apples are another excellent source for potassium. You can also enjoy honeydew melons and cantaloupe. Other fruits that are high in potassium are peaches, kiwi, prunes, raisins, oranges and apricots. Enjoy a nice glass of apple or orange juice to start your day off.
Vegetables
Potatoes are a great source for high potassium. Baked potatoes are especially good for raising your potassium levels. Lima beans and legumes are high in potassium too. My favorite way to get extra potassium in my body is to have creamed spinach. Squash is a tremendous source for high potassium. If you want to drink your way to higher levels of potassium then drink vegetable juices.
Nuts
There are certain nuts that are high in potassium. Roasted peanuts with their skins on are a tasty snack food that has lots of potassium in it. Brazil nuts are also a good resource for raising potassium levels. So next time, you are sitting in front of the TV hungry grab a healthy potassium snack. Grab some nuts.
Starch
Most people watch their starch intake these days. When you are watching your potassium levels make sure you are eating the right starches. Certain starches really raise your potassium levels. Rice is high in potassium. You can eat either white or brown rice. Wheat bread is also high in potassium.
Dairy
If you are watching your potassium levels, you may also want to look at dairy products. Milk is high in potassium. So is yogurt. It is imperative that if you are having issues with your potassium that you get help to get it under control. Whether it is too high or too low, eating and drinking the right foods can help you.
