As I grow older and am less active then I was in my youth I have found that I have been experiencing more severe colds and viruses. These are not good for anyone especially when I am not used to being a person that is prone to illness.

I have gotten myself into the habit of looking at foods that are proving to be beneficial to my health and well being. There are food groups that when eaten help to improve your productivity. I have a list of foods that are essential for energy and are "brain foods"

So I thought that I would share with some of the folks here:

1. Eggplants are an effective method to treat high blood cholesterol. The eggplant is a source of folic acid and potassium. It is better eaten cooked than raw.
2. Raisins, dried grapes, contain fructose and are high in antioxidants. The lowly raisin can be used as a quick snack and contains Vitamin C.
3. Spinach, a lot of people do not like spinach, but it is really a remarkable vegetable that is actually quite good for you. It contains Iron, calcium, vitamins A, C, E, K, B6 and magnesium. All of these are essential in maintaining a healthy body. So suck it up and steam up some spinach.
4. Peanut Butter, another healthy food, one has to watch out though there are many people who are allergic to peanut butter. Peanut butter provides proteins, vitamins B3 and E. Peanut butter also contains magnesium, and antioxidant.
5. Sunflower seeds contain vitamin E, magnesium and selenium. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to neutralize free radicals. Vitamin E is also good for anti inflammatory. Getting a substantial amount of Vitamin E can in most cases held to reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke. It is essential for your body to have sufficient amounts of Vitamin E. Sunflower seeds also have significant amounts magnesium which helps to lower high blood pressure and is a natural way to get rid of the pain of a migraine headache.
