Serotonin is a substance within your body that is naturally occurring and increases one's mood levels. It also acts as a chemical messenger, also known as a neurotransmitter, within the brain and there are several different foods that increase serotonin levels in your brain.

These foods that increase serotonin levels in the brain include free range beef and turkey. Both contain tryptophan, which is a good way to increase serotonin levels. Tryptophan is a type of amino acid which creates building blocks for serotonin. Opting for free range meat is a good idea as it is a great way to ensure you do not ingest too many hormones and chemicals.

Eggs are also known foods that increase serotonin levels as well as an excellent source of good fatty acids such as omega 3. Eggs help raise serotonin levels due to the high amount of cholesterol they contain.

Food such as dark chocolate is also recommended if you want to increase levels of serotonin. Dark chocolate is also good to eat as it has a low sugar content, and those that eat too much sugar will find that they crash quickly.

Other foods that increase serotonin levels include salmon. There is a high level of omega 3 in salmon, which has been shown to help increase the level of serotonin in people.
