Foods to Keep Your Body Warm in Winter

Our body temperature drops with the atmosphere temperature and eating the right kind of foods will help you generate heat in your body. As more energy is required to keep our body warm, we tend to eat more. This tendency leads us to put on a few more kilos of unwanted weight by the time the season is out. Winter also brings in bouts of cold and frequent illness. In order to keep these winter diseases at bay it is essential to add diet rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help build our immune system. To boost our internal system we need to follow some essentials like :-

1) Having seasonal fruits and vegetables will boost our immunity as they are packed with nutrients. Include winter super foods like Indian gooseberry, strawberries, oranges, pomegranate, onion, carrot, capsicum, beans, beetroot, spring onion, cabbage and broccoli are ideal.

2) Having herbs and spices like black pepper, turmeric, cumin, fenugreek, fennel, nutmeg and coriander enhance immunity and are considered to be warming foods.

3) Include whole grains like brown rice, oats, jowar, bajra and buckwheat are rich in nutrients and fibre.

4) Graze on nuts and seeds as they are warming winter foods. Try to eat flax seeds, water melon seeds, musk melon seeds and other dry fruits.They are3 high in minerals and phytochemicals, fibre and omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.
