Foods that Will Literally Make You Sick

There are indeed some very strange things in the world, but nothing more strange than the things that people sometimes make for consumption, or sometimes consume with or without knowing it. Let's take the Jelly Belly company for example, which issued surprise flavors for Easter in addition to its' 50 original tastes. If you bought one of their Beanboozled boxes, you were likely to get one that had about 20 of the limited edition flavors they are so proud of. Now, I know it will make most people sad, but you won't have the chance to taste garlic beans, buttered-toast beans or cheese pizza jelly beans which sound so yummy. Can't you just taste them now? Just makes your mouth water doesn't it? Jelly Belly has gone out of its' way to make beans that taste like pencil shavings, ear wax, booger, skunk spray, rotten egg, moldy cheese and even vomit.

One spokeswoman for Jelly Belly has said ".....you don't know what flavor you are tasting ... coconut or baby wipe." I'm not sure what ever possessed the person who came up with the idea, but maybe it was a joke to see if people would actually eat these things. Another theory of mine is that maybe they wanted to start a TV spin off of Fear Factor in which the contestants must eat each flavor of disgusting jelly beans to win. The grand prize would be a box of regular flavored Jelly Belly beans that won't make you throw up while eating throw up flavor I suspect. If you would like to see how your favorite moldy cheese jelly bean is made, they will give you a free tour of their Fairfield, CA facilities. They also offer up education in "beanology" and you can get a Jelly Belly gift basket for someone. Imagine the look of delight on your loved one's face as they chewed on a nice handful of booger beans you purchased for them on your lovely visit.

I don't know how many of you order your drinks at restaurants with a slice of lemon, but that may change soon enough. People usually get a lemon wedge on the sides of their water, tea, or alcoholic beverages. However, it has been found that most are getting more than they bargained for with that drink. There was a recent study brought to public attention that revealed that most lemon slices on our drinks from restaurants are loaded with bacteria from fecal matter. You read it right, feces have been found on them at an alarming rate. Not exactly what the doctor, or you for that matter, ordered. Out of 21 restaurant samples tested, over 77% of the lemon wedges contained dangerous disease ridden bacteria. There is only one reason that this is happening, and it is low or no level of hygiene among the workers in these food establishments. Cross-contamination is occurring due to hands not being washed frequently and properly enough after bathroom visits, thus preparing customers drinks and food after bypassing the hot water and soap. Doesn't make one thrilled to have a lemon, or eat out for that matter. Another reason for the presence of the bacteria is contamination from raw meats being prepared on the same surface as the lemons. It is like taking a lemon slice at home and dipping it in blood and juice from some type of meat or in feces, gross. Food should be something someone wants to eat, not something that one has already eaten.
