Fooling a Visitor to a Project

A large multi million dollar project was under execution in a developing country. Considerable delay occurred at land development and machinery erection stage. Only large cranes for handling equipments had arrived. Meanwhile a News Correspondent wanted to visit the site to have an update. The Correspondent (NC) met the Chief Security officer (CSO) for an appointment with the concerned official. He was directed to the Stores Officer (SO) with a briefing which is given below.

CSO. . I have a very important visitor. He is from the Press. He wants to see our progress. I have asked him to meet you. Please show him the recently unloaded consignments and explain.

SO: I will look after him and handle the situation. Do not worry.

NC enters SO's cabin and is given a warm reception. He is seated.

SO: What can I do for you?

NC: I want to get an idea of the progress of the project.

SO: We commenced work of land acquisition two years ago. Then we did the leveling of land for the factory site. We have placed orders for machinery. Some have arrived and are in the yard. You see the one over there.

NC. I see the parts of large equipment. Can I take a photograph of it?

SO: Certainly. That is one of the biggest cranes we have. The P&H Crane.

The NC took a photograph and after a sumptuous lunch left. The photo was published in the next day's papers with the caption.
A great industrial giant awakens.

He was referring to the Crane. Luckily the crane gained the status of the machinery. But it saved the management from inconvenient questions regarding the progress of the project.
