Fool's King: A Poem

Scott Bauer
Derived from misery

Pulled from dank and dreary dreams

Here now lies a fool

Where once stood a king

He struggles to his feet

Wavering in his pain

Notice the mental numbness

Of the ruler of the land

Millions envy his plight

But few would actually have it

Still he decided life or death

Without telling us why

Strong in shell

Weak in spine

If I break through

You are mine

Evil intrudes and spreads

Fast cash and power for more

Lures anyone to temptations

And beyond
