Focus on your teams positives. Sometimes the only way to get over a tough loss is to focus on your teams positives. If your season isn't over, think about the upcoming games. Does your teams still have a chance at making it to the playoffs. It's tough to deal with a loss, but if you are still alive in a playoff hunt focus on that. If the season is over, think about the positives of the season. Did your team have a good overall season? Think about next year. Does your team have a high draft pick to look forward too? With the addition of one or two players can your team become really good? These are the types of thoughts you have to have to get over a tough loss.
Find another team to root for. When your teams season comes to an end this is a great strategy for helping you to get over your teams loss. Find another team that you can root on. Only one team is going to be left standing in the end, so when your team goes down, root for another. This will help you to still enjoy the game of football and it will allow you to forget about what happened to your team. I love to find a really good team that I know will have a great chance of winning it all! I always think, maybe one of my teams will win!
Put things in perspective. It's just a game. When all is said and done remember that. You enjoyed the season, the highs and lows, and now it's all over. Again, only one team is going to be left at the end. Celebrate your teams surceases, look forward to improvement and move on when your team losses.
Find something new to fill your time. Basketball season usually is hitting it's climax as football season ends. This is great because now you can find a new team in a new sport to focus on. Once your team's season comes to an end, look for another sport to fill the void of football.
Avoid radio and T.V. Talk radio, especially local talk radio will depress you when your team losses. It seems like everyone who calls in has only negative thoughts and ideas to share. They rarely see the positive, especially right after a loss. The truth is sometimes it takes some times to look back over a season and put things in perspective. After you have given yourself time to let a loss sink in then you can often see the improvement and successes in a season.
Turn the radio off, if you are trying to get over a tough loss.
Everyone takes a loss differently. Some take a long time to get over it, others can do so quickly. If you tend to take a loss to heart, try some of these tips to get through it!
