Price: Kushies Ultra All-in-One Cloth Diapers don't cost much at all. The prices are as follows: $7.99 newborn, $8.99 infant, and $10.49 toddler. These are much less expensive than any other diapering system on the market, save for homemade diapers made by WAHMs. They cost the same no matter what design you chose; only size makes a difference. You don't have to sacrifice cuteness, or quality, to save a bit of money. Kushies make cloth diapering affordable for almost anyone.
Resale Value: It is excellent. You will only lose a few dollars on these diapers. In great condition, they can sell for as much as a dollar less than their original price. On average, the newborn diapers will sell for $5 secondhand. Infant size diapers will go for about $6. Toddler Kushies will sell at about $7.50 a diaper. The seller makes back most of the money they spent, and the buyer can make cloth diapering much more affordable by buying second hand. Kushies All-in-One Cloth Diapers are a good investment.
Laundering: Laundering is easy. I have always dumped solid poop out into the toilet and then thrown the diapers in a hamper with an air freshener. When it is time to wash them, I use Tide with Febreze as well as the presoak, extended spin, and second rinse options on my washing machine. They take several hours to air dry and about an hour or two in the dryer. They are prone to fraying, so you may wish to handwash and airdry these just in case. I add some fabric softener to ensure no smell stays behind. Stains come out quite easily with a spray of Shout. Kushies Ultra All-in-One Cloth Diapers are easy to wash.
Ease of Use: Kushies Ultra AIO Cloth Diapers are a piece of cake to use. You lay the child on the diaper, fold the front over the child, and velcro it shut at the sides. They work just like disposable diapers--except that you wash them after use. They are very easy to put on and take off.
Absorbency: They are less absorbent than other diapers. They don't bulk up like disposable diapers but can get a little heavy when wet, like most diapers. Their outer material is waterproof, but the inner material doesn't absorb a whole lot. Kushies Ultra All-in-One Cloth Diapers will prevent leaks, as long as you change your child often enough that he doesn't pee more than twice in the diaper.
Special Uses: None, unfortunately. These are just basic diapers.
Comfort: My son likes Kushies a little less than other brands. The material is very soft and keeps baby's bottom feeling dry, but there is a lot of extra fabric on the sides. They are made to fit even large toddlers, but very few babies will need the extra girth they can provide, and the extra fabric can be annoying to toddlers. They are also a little bulky.
Strength: The material is long-lasting, though not incredibly strong. My diapers have been through at least two children so far and are still in working condition. However, the inner and outer material is prone to ripping and tearing. These diapers are a little prone to wear and tear, though easy to keep clean. They can go in the washing machine and dryer, but I recommend allowing them to air-dry. Kushies Ultra AIO Cloth Diapers will last for a while, but not forever.
Designs: Kushies Ultra All-in-one Cloth Diapers have very cute designs. There are a lot of prints to chose from. I think the duck print diaper is very cute. I have the white ones, which aren't very attractive and are very basic. I would love to have some of the colorful diapers.
My Favorite Feature: The diaper material on the inside is open, making sort of a pocket. I can stuff liners or place a soaker in there that will stay firmly in place and make the diaper more absorbent. Soakers can be placed in any diaper though. I simply like the design of these because the soaker will be held in place and not move around as I adjust my child's position while putting the diaper on him.
My Least Favorite Feature: They are incredibly bulky. They don't make good on-the-go diapers and are not as cute as some other brands. They make my son kind of look like a pear once he has clothes on. I also dislike that they are not as sturdy as other brands.
Rating: * * * 3 stars!
Where to Get Them: You can view them in the catalogue on the Kushies website, but you can't buy them there. Various sites on the internet sell them, and they are easy to find secondhand on most diaper exchange sites. They are available in some stores, but mostly overseas.
Kushies Ultra All-in-One Cloth Diapers are a great basic diaper. They aren't incredibly absorbent, but shouldn't leak if you change them on time. They are very affordable and are the least expensive AIO cloth diaper available. Their resale value is excellent. They are very easy to use and keep clean. They are made of strong material, but unfortunately they are a little bulky. They are very cute, though, and are a great starter diaper for someone who can't afford to spend much on cloth diapering or isn't willing to just yet.
