For Father's Day - a Poem
For all the times I never told you thank you,
For all the times I ignored what you said,
For all the years I acted so indifferent,
I want to say how much I thank you, Dad.
These are the things I should have often told you,
But usually they were left unsaid;
Now these are words that weigh heavy upon me -
How much I want to say, I love you, Dad.
For all the times you reached and I rebuffed you,
For all the years I scoffed at things you said,
I want to say how much I miss my father,
And how I wish I could tell you now, Dad.
Happy Father's Day to fathers everywhere!

Post a CommentNot all fathers deserve remembering, and not all fathers were great!. Not all fathers, living or dead deserve to be remembered in a nice and loving way. Read my Fathers day poem and understand why.
And, remember if we don't do it while he is living we will never get the chance. Mine died when I was 23--before I was old enough to realize this. Kathryn has it right, however, and if your dad is still living remember to go and wish them a Happy Father's Day and your mom a Happy Mother's Day as well. Johnny Yuma Great Work Kathryn!
awww how sweet!!!!!
Oh come on now, you've got me crying!
Lovely words. I'm sure your Dad knew all of the things you mention.
I'm sure he'd like it. Very touching.
Kathryn, he knew.
Nicely done . . . and a good reminder for us all to say what should be said, when opportunities are present. ;-)
nicely written
This is lovely. I lost my Dad last July, but I am so glad I had that last Father's Day, Christmas, and birthday with him to show him how much he was/is loved!
