who is known to many persons
he is glad he doesn't know."
Lord Byron
(1788 - 1824)
A famous young artist
Drops dead in his suite;
And you try your hardest
The others to beat.
You race for the story,
To focus your lens,
And grab all the glory
With your poison pens.
But, hey, did you take time
To sniff out the truth?
Or simply invent crime
With photos uncouth?
As you cry out scandal
And miserable lies,
You coldly mishandle
The family, who cries.
Although he was known
For his talent and looks,
Now his own private zone
Is invaded by crooks.
Though we know your bark
Is much worse than your bite,
You set off a spark;
Folks are listening tonight.
So readers will snatch
All the pages you write,
And viewers will watch
All your footage tonight.
But somewhere, indeed,
His loved ones will grieve.
You'll spot a new lead,
And you'll pack up and leave.
Next week, when officials
Report on the facts,
Your lines superficial
Will seem like wisecracks.
The damage you did
Will be archived in stone,
With none to re-bid
Reputations long gone.

Post a Comment(STANDING OVATION) Yes, yes, YES!!! You SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nailed this one. My hat is off to you. Bravo!!!
Glad you wrote about this. It was sad when I heard about his death. I hope his loved ones are comforted.
The best thing I've read about the subject on AC.
Glad I'm not the only one...good job.
A Beautiful poem! I totally agree with you, what a travesty, the media circus surrounding Heath's death. He shunned the limelight, he would hate this media feeding frenzy the last few days. Well done Linda!
Hard to find words that will ring more true than this. Very well written. Hopefully we can all learn to maintain our morals, be sensitive to the pain of others and not let ourselves be corrupted by greed.
P.S. I plead guilty because I wrote of his death but I was shocked and saddened by it. So young!
Excellent. Unfortunately, money and greed often surpasses common sense when it comes to these things. Also, if people standing in checkout lines didn't buy the magazines that blared out the worst and most sensationalistic rumors, they'd go out of business. Someone is paying for this and supporting it.
Sadly true.
The world would be a much better place without people with no heart that are out for that almighty dollar. It is a real shame what we have turned into. Beautiful poem Miss Linda, my sentiments to his family. Ken
