For Him

Charles B Reynolds
youthful days, filled with wonder and fear clouded respect

wait 'til he gets home, reverbed with tremendous trepidation

years pass slow, never felt good enough, less than all others

years of teen madness, ignored mostly and didn't care

moving on, moved away and focused on inward needs

through the years, rarely seeking counsel from the megaphone

time passing, more respect but not of fear

distance and time, apart but never really closer

tragedy strikes, alone afraid sad angry acceptance

so little time spent, being friends sharing thoughts arguing with passion

all too soon, gone before time spent lost could be made up

reflections stare back, reminding me when and where and who

in the mirror seen, but only a reflection can't answer back

as years pass slow, memories fade blend haze coalesce churn

hole opens gaping, voices dissipate stories pale snippets fall deep

gone but here, here but gone, seen and unseen, heard and unheard
