For the Love of Maine Coon Cats

The Gentle Giant

The Maine Coon cat is America's orginal cat. The Maine Coon originated in New England and their physical characteristics are due to the harsh winters there. The fur of the Maine Coon is long and they have an interesting look about them. Their personalities are very unique. Some Maine Coons are clowns and provide a lot of amusement watching them. Some are very affectionate and loving. If you are interested in purchasing a cat and you have a bit of money to spend, then the Maine Coon would make a purrfect companion. My Maine Coons have provided me with tons of joy, laughter and love with their unique personalities and their charming looks. I prefer the male to the female because I feel that the males are more affectionate and act out for attention a lot more, providing a lot of funny entertainment.

Maine Coons have the same life expectancy as any other cat, even though they are larger than your typical cat. Some males can reach up to 18 pounds or more. The females are generally smaller than the males. They are referred to as "gentle giants" because of their gentle disposition and friendly nature. I notice a lot of men like Maine Coons. They are also called the "dog lover's cat." People who love dogs will usually like a Maine Coon cat.

My Maine Coon cat is silly. He likes to play fetch, just like a dog. I throw a plastic stick (attached to his cat toy) and he fetches it and brings it back to me over and over again. Sometimes when I'm sitting on the couch talking to someone (and not paying attention to him), he will come up with his stick and place it on my lap for me to throw for him.

Maine Coon cats are beautiful, gentle, playful, loving and affectionate. I feel that once you have a Maine Coon, you will always want a Maine Coon! I'd love to have a house full of those big guys!
