For Mom-Mother Ocean

The Mother of Us All

Chad R. Herman
I've always wanted to sail the sea, return to our mother that we left so long ago.
From whence we came,
I shall return once more.

The swells,
the reefs,
the wind,
all deliver us to our unknown final destination.

The swells gently rock you to sleep,
making time drift by.
They help you sail along,
without a peep.

The waves slow your progression,
slapping you in the face.
Yet at the same time,
allowing you to ride their acceleration.

The reefs add life to her majesty,
and fulfill her myster.
They help the waves rise and fall,
yet provide food for one and all.

The wind is power,
mixed with feelin.
It has the power to speed you up,
and the ability to make you stop.
The wind can destroy a hull,
and kill us all.

The ocean can give birth to life,
as a mother.
The ocean can give riches and adventure,
as to the pirate.
The ocean can give death,
as the sharpest blade of the hooded executioner.
