For You Mommy, on Mother's Day

How to Write My Mommy's Day Poem

Better Fit Body
When writing this year's Mommy's Day poem, keep it simple and touch her heart.

Your poem should have a beginning, a middle and an end, just like a story. To make it simple, take out one piece of paper and fold the top and bottom into the center of the page. Crease the paper and open it up. You just made three sections in the paper. The top part is the beginning, the middle part for the middle and the bottom part for the end.

Start your poem with her name first: Mom, Mommy, Mum or Mother - you choose the best one for you. Start the next sentence with the words, Thank you. Look at my example - you can copy it or make your own.

EXAMPLE :

TOP: Mom, Thank you!
TOP: Thank you Mommy....

Now start your middle section by telling her all the things you are thankful for. Tell her thank you for making you smile, thank you for the food, thank you for the clothes, thank you for the help with homework... thank her for everything you love that she does for you and the family. Make a list of 5 or 6 things.

EXAMPLE:

MIDDLE: Thank you for taking me to the Park every Saturday morning for our walks in the park.
MIDDLE: Thank you for scrubbing me clean when I get dirty after soccer practice.
***Make sure you list all the things you are thankful for..******

Now you can end your poem telling her how much she and everything she does means to you. Tell her how beautiful she is, tell her how you couldn't do it without her.

EXAMPLE:

END: I just don't think I could do any of this without you...
END: You mean the whole world to me....
END: You are my everything....

It's good to practice writing your poem by yourself before you give her the finished copy. Rewrite your poem on a nice, bland, clean sheet of paper. You can also use construction paper, notebook paper, or colored paper. It's up to you. You can even type it on the computer and draw borders at the edges. On your finished copy, don't forget to sign your poem at the very end and put the date on it.

Give your poem to her first thing in the morning of Mommy's day or sneak it under her pillow the night before. She will love the surprise and how much you touched her heart.
