For My Mother on Mother's Day

You've always been there when I cried.
Been my eyes when my soul's denied.
The truth of my actions and mistakes.
Trying to do your best whatever it takes.

Blunt and bold when in the right.
No matter how I moan and fight.
You stand firm on what you believe.
Especially when you know people are bent to deceive.

Protecting me no matter what.
No matter how I talk back or what attitude I cut.
Showing me by your worry you love me.
And that you'll always be my Mommy.

You've been through much and we've all fought tears.
And yet still through all these years..
Fighting those battles in your life,
You still remained a great mother and loving wife.

I step back now and applaud you,
for on this coming Mother's day,
I'll take the opportunity to say,
God chose you to be my mother,
and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you Mom, for being who you are, no matter what anyone has ever said or will say.
