I first started using Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask when I started having minor acne flare-ups. None of the acne products I was using was really helping to prevent pimples from occurring, nor were they helping to shrink the ones that were already there. I'd read in magazines that face masks were good for the skin when used once a week. On a whim, I decided to take a chance on the mint julep mask not really knowing if it was right for my skin or if it would work because it wasn't fancy or expensive.
I'm so glad I did because it quickly became a product that I can't live without. After washing my face and then applying this mask for about 5 minutes I immediately felt my skin tighten as the mask started to dry. After removing it with water ten minutes later, and seeing not only my tight skin, but my non-existent pores, I knew it was a quality product. I could already tell that my pimples had been affected to. Even though it wasn't very noticeable at first, they felt smaller, and were way less irritated than they had been before. Yet the next day I could actually see the results, the mask had worked wonders on my pimples.
Certain pimples were either dried up or were brought to a head because of the zinc in the mask, and the tightening of the pores that occurs after using it. The mask sped up the healing process of my pimples by at least three or four days. It also made the rest of my face look absolutely radiant. Though it didn't completely stop breakouts from occurring, it did help to prevent the frequency at which they occurred, as well as the number and size of the pimples that did pop up.
I love the fact that the mask is so thick because one tube can last for quite awhile (I've had to buy only two tubes in seven years) but it can be quite a challenge to remove it from your face. It can also be very drying on combination or dry skin, especially in the winter, so you have to have a lot of moisturizer on hand, but then again that's what helps the product to be so effective. The only thing that I would change about this product is the scent. As soon as you start to wipe it off with water it starts to smells like zinc which isn't pleasant at all. I would make the scent mintier to reflect it's name, but other than that I can't complain, this product has helped to keep my skin in great shape over the years, and I'll be using it forever.
