Happy Valentine's Day!
This poem, Pat, is for you on Valentine's Day. I hope it will give you an inkling of what your friendship means to me.
Some people touch you
With an act of kindness
That comes straight from the heart.
Others touch you by
Sharing their lives with you;
Drawing you near
Instead of pushing you
Apart.
Some people reach you
With the acts that they do
Not once but every day.
Others reach you by
Putting out their own hand
Offering hope
That life's hard pain will end
Someday.
Some people hold you
Deep inside of their heart;
Let you into their soul.
Others hold you
In the palm of their hand
As a treasure
That should be protected
Like gold.
But you, my friend.
You are so very rare.
You do these things, you see.
It's who you are
What's in the depth of you
A pure beauty
That shines bright like the sun
For me.
