We came across each other
On a lot of common threads
And shared some fun and laughter
With off topic jokes we read

Weeks and months they soon flew past
And pretty soon we knew
We had a lot in common
And from that our friendship grew

We sent each other emails
And spent hours on the phone
We learned so much to know
That we didn't want to be alone

But here the problems started
As you were here in the UK
But me - I was in Florida
Four and a half thousand miles away

We found time to get together
When you could get off work
The flights were so expensive
But we were determined to make it work

We have so much in common
So many things that we both like
It was a miracle us meeting
Like ships that pass in the night

So easily we could have missed
This opportunity
To find our own true soulmate
Our love was meant to be

Great times we've had together
Had no doubts that "US" would work
From watching a Shuttle launching
To getting drenched in New York

And through it all we're laughing
And as happy as can be
Whether picking shells in Sanibel
Or snorkeling in The Keys

We couldn't go on like this though
Something would have to change
Being apart for weeks and months
Was making us deranged

Problems with your visas
Your first Grandson on the way
Determined the future for us
And I moved back to the UK

So now we are together
Every day and every night
Long distance relationships sometimes work
I think we proved that right

We've never been together yet
On Saint Valentines Day
So this year for us is special
One to really celebrate

The most special day for us though
Is just a few short weeks away
For the Wednesday after Easter
Will be our own Wedding Day

It's a shame it took so many years
It's something we've discussed
But we know that it took all that time
For you and me to become "US"

You will always be the miracle
That has made my life complete
