Forbes List of 'America's Most Decadent Kitchens' - All Have High-tech Luxury Appliances

Kitchens Can Be Improved by Even the Most Minor of Changes

R.C. Johnson
Much of a person's time is spent in the kitchen, causing homeowners to desire an attractive, warm and highly usable space for cooking, dining, and entertaining. Homebuyers are seeking the same type of kitchen, all without needing to do a lot of upgrades after making a home purchase.

The number of persons who can afford a "decadent" kitchen is fairly limited, but all homeowners can benefit from staying abreast of popular features that can also add value to an existing home. Not every upgrade has to cost thousands of dollars. Paint, new cabinetry hardware, some different barstools, and small details such as picture arrangements or what to display on counters or tables - all of these add pop to kitchen design and add resale value.

When Forbes compiled the list of "America's Most Decadent Kitchens," dozens of luxury homes for sale with dream kitchens were nominated by Realtor.com, Trulia.com, Sotheby's International Realty and Coldwell Banker Previews International. Forbes then decided on the top 15 they liked based on unique amenities or "jaw-dropping" layouts.

Points made in the article

1) The one thing all of these kitchens have in common is high-tech luxury appliances.
2) Many decadent kitchens also boast built-in java machines, wine coolers and butler pantries.
3) Kitchens are one of the most popular upgrades to existing homes.
4) Kitchens have become the number one selling feature when a home is on the market.
5) Homeowners who invest in a major upscale kitchen remodeling project get back just 60% when they sell.
6) Less expensive kitchens in less expensive homes do better, returning 70% of the cost in a major remodeling and 73% in a minor one.

My husband and I both enjoy cooking so when we built this house, we made sure we had all the bells and whistles for a great kitchen. We skimped on other areas. Great article.

Yes, I can dream can't I? Oh RC, what a wonderful work you have here. Thanks so much for your message on our families loss of the precious little 5 year old. It is still a struggle, yet we are not asking "Why!?" but "What". What are you teaching us Lord. We know we will see this precious one again. Many thanks for your prayers and kind and compassionate words full of grace and love.

    Jack
