Originally opening in Miami in 2008 '˜Forbidden Broadway,' made a splash bigger than any wave to hit the Sunshine state's beaches. Breaking box office records for the Carnival Studio Theater it garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. This time around its two week run will have a star studded cast. Miami native Gina Kreiemar (recently from the off-Broadway run) is coming home. Joining her on stage are James Donegan, William Selby, and Jeanne Montano.Hard to believe "Forbidden," is celebrating its 29th year on stage. In this new incarnation no Broadway hit is safe from its hilarious biting roasting; even current shows appearing at the Arsht Center aren't above its grasp. In The Heights, Jersey Boys, Wicked, Spring Awakening, Mamma Mia! are up for grabs. Some older favorites are also being brought back into the satirical spotlight: Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, Les Misérables, and Chicago among them.

Forbidden Broadway does not come to town without awards to its credit. The show received a special Tony Award for Excellence In Theater, an Obie Award, 2009 Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and the ever popular Broadway.com Audience Favorite Award. The great thing about this show is it certainly doesn't take itself seriously and definitely gives Broadway shows a needed kick in the pants. It's hilariously funny, clever and just a whole lot of fun. It showcases the best musical theater has to offer with its parody lyrics, rapid fire delivery, and musical sketches complete with costume changes and props. It may be a small show but it doesn't present itself that way. It is a full Broadway extravaganza that will have you in stitches.
