Ford Motor Company Enters the Hybrid Car Arena with 2010 Fusion Hybrid
The Fusion Hybrid Represents the First Hybrid Sedan for the Company
The stats on the all new 2010 Fusion Hybrid do not disappoint in any area. Although the hybrid version of the Fusion looks like the regular version, it is vastly different. The hybrid car boasts best in class fuel economy with 41 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. Since the Fusion Hybrid has a 17 gallon gas tank that means that the mid-sized hybrid sedan can conceivable get 600 miles or more per tank-full which will mean less trips to the gas pumps.
For power, the Fusion Hybrid has a four-cylinder 2.5 liter engine that is capable putting out 156 horsepower. The hybrid car also features an electric traction motor that puts out an impressive 106 horse power to the front wheels. While the car will not throw you back in your seat on takeoff, it will provide plenty of get up and go, especially for a mid-sized hybrid car.
Perhaps the most impressive feature on the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid is the ability of the vehicle to drive at a greater speed on strictly the electric powered motor. According to the company, the car will go up to 47 miles per hour for shorter trips with a very light touch on the accelerator pedal needed to achieve such a feat. It is this feature that helps when it comes to the overall miles per gallon that the car enjoys.
Ford Motor Company, like any other car manufacturer these days, is simply trying to get by and survive the hard hit economy. With its latest edition focusing more on hybrid technology than anything else, they may be taking all the right steps. In the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid they have created a midsized car that is capable of extended trips, great gas mileage and great comfort. What else could you ask for? Though it will take time to see who reigns supreme in the hybrid arena, Ford has taken its best shot and may just come out ahead of the pack or at least a lot closer than anyone could have imagined.
