Ford Recalls Cruise Control; Ford Recall List Provided

In a Massive Recall of 4.5 Million Cars Ford Recalls It's Cruise Control

Ryan Christopher DeVault
A Ford recall on their cruise control is taking place. The Ford cruise control recall is affecting 4.5 million Ford vehicles in the United States, and is making it one of the most massive recalls in the history of the Ford Company. The Ford cruise control recall is taking place because of a faulty switch within the cruise control that could prove to be a huge fire hazard within the affected vehicles. The move is a scary one, because this raises the total to 16 million Ford Motor vehicles that have been involved in cruise control recalls. That this is the eighth recall for Ford that has to do with the cruise control is definitely not going to make Ford drivers feel safe either.

The new Ford recall is being spread around by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and it is a bit questionable that Ford isn't issuing their own press statement to these Ford owners to make sure that they are getting their recalled vehicles back into the dealerships to get fixed. Even the main Ford Web site is failing to post a main article on what the parameters of the newest Ford recall happen to be, leaving people to actually have to search by their VIN number to figure things out. Luckily we have a Ford recall list on page 2 that Ford owners can take a look at.

The reason for the recall on the Ford cruise control is that the faulty switch within the system can leak hydraulic fluid, overheat, smoke, and then burn. This causes immense concerns for distance drivers of many Ford vehicles, and means that there are millions of vehicles on the road right now that are putting their drivers at risk if they use the cruise control at just the wrong moment. In my opinion Ford needs to be doing a little bit more to get these vehicles off the road more quickly.

The vehicles most at risk on this current Ford recall are the 1995-2003 Windstars which were actually under Government investigation as to what the problems with the cruise control might have been giving their owners. The claim right now is that Ford is notifying all of their customers, but make sure that you do the research yourself to make sure that your Ford vehicle isn't on one of the recall lists right now. Once you do discover if your Ford vehicle is on one of the lists you should take your vehicle into a dealer for a complimentary installation of a fused wiring harness that will remove the risk of fires. The recall will begin starting on October 26th.

The New Ford Recall List:

Windstars 1995-2003

Excursion Diesels 2000-2003

F-Super Duty Diesels 1993-2003 (excluding 1998

Econolines 1992-2003

Explorers 1995-2002

Mercury Mountaineers 1995-2002

Is it too late to bring in my 99 windstar that I just bought in June for any of the recalls. Is there a time limit to where one needs to take advantage of a recall? My cruise control stopped working for about a month. Is this something I need to worry about a fire on? My over drive light is also flashing after driving for awhile....Is this a concern also .?

This is the fifth, count them, FIFTH recall on our windstar. You people better pony up with some cold hard cash for the incredible inconvenience you have caused our family, including, but not limited to loss of wages for time wasted, repairing these unacceptable defects. What is wrong with your people, your system, your assembly line? It doesn't suprise me in the least that Americans are buying superior foreign cars, when your negligence is so apparent. I DO EXPECT A REPLY TO THIS COMMENT ASAP

Good info. I had my front axle shaft replaced because of my abs light coming on while driving down the highway. Is that part of the recall?
I also just had my sending unit go in my gas tank now I don't know how much gas I have is that going to be recalled to?

This is too late for us, We lost our house to a fire due to our 2005 Freestar starting on fire in the garage. The fire started in the engine compartment on the drtivers side about a hour after it was parked. Cruise control wiring????
