Ford Using Microsoft's Hohm Energy Management System for 2012 Focus Electric Car

Microsoft has been hyping up their Hohm energy management system for about a year now. Their management system is a specially created technology that targets the energy efficiency of electric devices. Several manufacturers have teamed with Microsoft to use the unique system. Now it is Ford Automotive to incorporate the Hohm energy management system into an automobile for the first tiem ever.

Ford is well known for taking risks when it comes to incorporating new technology into their automobiles. Voice Sync is perhaps the most popular technology that they have incorporated to date. Officials at Ford believe that the Hohm energy management system will be the best technology that they have incorporated yet. This is because of the amazing energy saving capabilities that the system will bring to owners of Ford's upcoming Focus Electric car.

Officials are touting this partnership as a move that needed to be made in order for the infrastructure of electric vehicles to receive the proper development to help them remain a viable option. The Hohm device will deliver to consumers that ability to determine when and how their vehicle is being the most efficient. The system will also point the consumer on how to most efficiently charge their electric vehicles as well.

The one negative about the Hohm energy management system is that it will be an internet based service. This means that consumers who purchase the Focus Electric car will have to pay to have have the service available. Ford will most likely give purchasers of the Focus Electric a free year of service before they have to pay monthly. It would have been cooler if the company would offer the service for free but we must understand that everyone wants to make money.

There are no current plans as of right now for the company to incorporate the Hohm energy management system into any of their other automobiles. They might want to sit back and see how their consumers react to the technology before incorporating it into any of their other models. However, this is a partnership that needed to happen to make owning an electric vehicle that much more attractive. It will be interesting to see how consumer reaction is to the technology and if it is a true viable innovation that Microsoft has created.
