They may have been alone in that corner but they weren't the only ones in the house. They were hiding from the others because they were scaring them. The others were fighting and yelling so loud it made their ears hurt. The youngest sister, with her golden brown curly hair, was clutching their puppy, who had every once and awhile given out a whimper.
There wasn't anywhere to go. No way to get out of there, and no one but the people in the house argueing even knew what was going on. They were trapped in the house in that corner to wait for all the fighting to end. They couldn't even go to their beds for fear of being caught in the middle so they just stayed and waited. They witnessed yelling, hitting, pushing, and more emotions than they were capable of understanding at their young tender ages. They were witnessing something that would stay engraved in their minds forever.
None of them seemed to care that the children were there listening too and watching what was going on. They didn't even consider what emotional damage it was doing to them. They shouldn't have been subjected to such anger and fighting, with physical violence.
This was just one of many times the sisters spent time hiding in the corner because of the fighting that went on in their home. The home that was suppose to be safe for them. The home where no harm should have come to anyone, especially four innocent little children. The home they should have been able to bring their friends over to. The home where dreams should have been magical not frightening.
Not this home, this home had too many secrets, deep dark secrets, secrets that could never be repeated. None of what happened in their home was to leave. No one was to know what was going on in there, and no one ever did, except for the four fragile, scared, little girls who had to be witness to circumstances beyond their control. All the horrible, painful memories are so deeply etched in their minds that they can't even make a choice to want to forget them.
