Forever Young: Look and Feel Your Best

Janan Allen
Do you wake up feeling tired, grouchy, and still fatigued? Is the mirror becoming an enemy instead of a welcoming friend? If this is how you feel, then it is time to change the way you are living. You should be waking up with a smile and a long stretch. Well of course if it were that easy, then everybody would feel great and wake up with a smile on their face. It requires a little effort to get back your youthful spirit, but it is well worth it.

If you are feeling and looking old, and you want to change this, you must first be determined. Changing your life and lifestyle, in order to feel and look younger, is not going to happen overnight. But you can start right now.

The first thing you need to do is to start having fun. If you are lacking some fun in your life, you are missing out on one of the best things life has to offer. Having fun can make you feel like a kid again and how you feel is reflected on our outside appearance.

There is no instruction manual to having fun. There are no set of rules to go by. Just do what makes you happy and what feels good, within the confines of the law of course. The possibilities are limitless and waiting for you.

Another way to feel, and therefore look younger, is to keep company with people younger than you. Hang out sometimes with your kids, or your siblings' kids, or even grand kids. You may not have a lot in common, but you will always find common ground. There is just something about hanging with younger people that just makes you feel better.

Hanging with a younger crowd, you will see all the things that you have stopped doing for one reason or another. You will see that sometimes life does not have to be that serious. Make light out of life. Do not stress about all the little things, and just go with the flow. This can easily be achieved, all while maintaining your priorities, family, work, and life.

One of the best ways to start feeling better is by getting your blood pumping. Get your body moving. Take a brisk walk, do jumping jacks, jump rope, jog in place, practice yoga, or simply just engage in an intense stretch. These possibilities are limitless as well.

Exercising helps your body release serotonin and endorphins, which make you feel well and more youthful. So this is an excellent way to quickly feel younger, in a matter of minutes. You choose how frequent. If you have a busy day, and can not find enough time to exercise, then just stretch. An excellent way to achieve this, at an optimal time, is to engage in a full body stretch when you first wake up. So before you get out of bed, just take 5 to 10 minutes and slowly stretch your whole body, from head to toe.

One last tip that I have is to simply smile and laugh! Smiling and laughing are incredibly simple, yet more powerful than you will ever know. When you smile, certain muscles are activated, and this send signals to your brain. Smiling tells your brain that something is making you happy, or that you feel good, and in turn you will feel this wellness and happiness.

Laughing and smiling can be somewhat contagious. So when you smile or laugh, it is hard for others to be in a negative mood, which will in turn bounce back to you, and make you feel better. Laughter is the ultimate age defying strategy.

Feeling and looking younger has to start with the state of mind. There is no magic pill or surgery that can make you feel younger. But follow some or all of these tips that I've listed, and you will be on your way to a more youthful you.
