Forex Trading and the Bipolar Disorder Adult

Implications in Mania

Christine Cadena
Bipolar disorder is a complex mental health complication that adversely affects millions of young adults each year. For some, the complications of bipolar disorder lead to risky behavior and even adversely affect family finances. If you are considering the pursuit of Forex trading, and you have a pre-existing diagnosis of bipolar disorder, it may be prudent to consider a few options before setting forward into a Forex trading activity.

In the long term, the process by which you exchange foreign currency can be quite lucrative. For adults with bipolar disorder, the attraction to Forex trading may be vastly different than that of the general public. For adults with bipolar disorder, the attraction to Forex trading may, in fact, be very similar to the involving in state lotteries or other gambling activities and knowing when to stop engaging in those risky behaviors is often challenging.

With bipolar disorder, the manic stage often leads to impulsive behavior that can be detrimental to make sound judgments in a Forex trading process. Much like shopping addictions or sex addictions, adults with bipolar disorder can develop Forex trading addictions and this can not only not improve the family finances, it can lead to significant downward spirals which are certainly not recommended when our economy is in a state of flux.

While Forex trading can be lucrative, for the adult with bipolar disorder, it is important to recognize the warning signs and symptoms that may lead to your adverse outcomes. To avoid disaster financially, consider setting daily goals with you family finances and Forex trading and do not pass these goals in terms of losses. When these goals are met or exceeded, know when to stop and if you are in the manic phase or your bipolar health, ask a family member to help you remove the risk and access to your Forex trading account.

The doctor that manages and treats your bipolar disorder will most likely recommend that you not engage in any risk behavior including the activities associated with Forex trading. However, like most bipolar disorder patients, you will live with risk and it is ultimately how you manage that risk that will determine your health outcome. If you attracted to Forex trading, be sure you have restrictions and limitations in place that will ensure that your bipolar disorder impulsive behavior does not complicate your life and your Forex trading outcome any more than necessary.
