If you are like me, you may have a ton of old baby clothes, toys or other items you no longer need. These items, if not used begin to clutter your home. Back in the old school days, you would either give these items away or have an old-fashioned yard sale. Now you have the option of taking your items to a consignment shop. There is however, a hefty percentage cost to you when dealing with these stores. If you decide to take your beloved items to a consignment shop, you can just forget about getting what you should be getting for your item. These shops literally make their money off of you. They simply pay the rent on a small building, put up a sign and your merchandise does all the work for them. By selling your own things on Craigslist you can be assured that you sell your items for the price you want them to be sold for. You can also make sure whoever is getting your items will take care of them. Many people like to know that their items are going to good homes and to people who could really use these items. Having a Craigslist ad puts you in control, rather standing by and allowing someone else to make all the decisions for you.
Using Craigslist is simple. You can log on by going to www.Craigslist.org there you will be able to search for your city or the closest city to you. Once you have found your city you can find the "For Sale" section which should be located in the middle of the page. Once you have found this section, click the category that best fits the item. In the upper right-hand corner you will see the word "Post" it will be underlined. Click this and Craigslist will prompt you from there.
Once you have posted your item, when and where you meet the buyer will be up to you. If you are not comfortable with someone coming to your house ask them to meet you in a public place. This is a good idea in case you are worried about your safety. You can also bring a friend or significant other with you if you don't want to go by yourself. Selling items on Craigslist couldn't be any easier or cheaper. There is literally no cost involved other than your own time. So, if you have some items you were thinking about consigning some of your items, put that thought to the side and check out Craigslist first!
