Forget Fashion Trends - Some Clothes Never Go Out of Style

Brooks Brothers Clothing Store

All the great design houses are unveiling their Spring and Fall lines for 2007. While it would be wonderful to be able to drop several thousand dollars on a jacket or skirt, it just isn't feasible for most shoppers when they consider the fact that the garment they buy this season will be out of style next season. It will be the fashion world's equivalent to what your wrap fish in - yesterday's news.

Fashion trends and designers are fickle creatures. Sure, whatever you buy this year may be back in style in 20 years or so, but who wants to buy something they can only wear a couple times every 20 years? That just isn't my idea of getting more for your dollar! So what are we to do if we don't want to be lost in yesterday's fashions, ever trying to be hip and up to date?

Thankfully, some things never go out of style and that is where stores like Brooks Brothers come in. Construct a wardrobe of classic pieces made of natural fibers like wool, cashmere, cotton and linen and you can never go wrong. In 1818, Henry Sands Brooks began the first ready-to-wear fashion emporium in America. His guiding principle was to "make and deal only in merchandise of the finest quality, to sell it at a fair profit and to deal with people who seek and appreciate such merchandise." Quality is the key to a great wardrobe. Quality garments will last a lifetime.

Since 1818, Brooks Brothers has outfitted American presidents such as Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. Brooks Brothers has also clothed such well-dressed celebrities as Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., Rudolph Valentino, Errol Flynn, Fred Astaire, the Duke of Windsor, Clark Gable, Katharine Hepburn, Matthew Broderick, Chris O'Donnell, Michael J. Fox, Heather Locklear, Queen Latifah, Sir Paul McCartney, James Gandolfini, Jon Voight, Greg Kinnear and Kevin Bacon.

Brooks Brothers' clothes never go out of style. Whether you purchase a well-cut sport coat, a cashmere sweater set, a simple white shirt or a pair of linen pants, these clothes will never go out of style. If you're looking for a good wardrobe purchase this season, forget the big names a bigger price tags and buy a classic staple that will serve you well season after season and yet always remain in style.
