Forgiving Others

Amanda Kidd
Jesus said, "Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing." Jesus forgave those who persecuted and crucified Him, but Christians today can hinder unforgiving begrudged spirits in their souls, while repenting and praying to God to forgive them their trespasses, while they don't forgive those who trespass against them. The Word warns we must forgive those who've oppressed, offended, and wounded us or our sins will not be pardoned. God is compassionate, He allows us to gently rebuke those who hurt us because this is healthy healing for our souls. But after you've expressed your disappointments, it is wise for your salvation to forgive immediately. Many Christians misunderstand God, forgiving simply means to pardon or excuse and no longer be angry with those who've hurt us or committed a wrongful act towards us. This means let it go, give it to God, because we truly cannot alter the offender's soul. We'll be pressed down and shaken repeatedly in this world, but Christians must allow the Holy Spirit to live through them and do as Jesus did, not as He didn't. The Word says, "It is wise to overlook an offense," and although no man is perfect, the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, long suffering, self control...We cannot continue to allow Satan's sour fruit influence what is contrary to holiness which is an unforgiving spirit, revenge, hatred, and all forms of evilness.

God is loving; He feels our pain and recognizes we've been offended. Forgiving doesn't mean an unhealthy relationship can be regenerated. With God this is possible, but if one must love from a distance to keep peace, then that is acceptable. God repays our offenders. When we decide to hold grudges, this is stating to God that we can solve the matter and reprimand the offender through punishment, disowning them, not loving them, seeking revenge, and holding eternal grudges. I'll just solve this situation myself because they hurt me, I am innocent! No you're not. All have fallen short of the glory. You may be innocent in that particular incident, but have you ever needed forgiveness (yes). Our prayers are truly hindered when we are disobedient to God's Word. We must forgive 70 times 7 as the Word states. They say "time heals all wounds," no Jesus does. If you are hurting you must pray for healing. You must pray that God help you forgive. You must pray and have mercy on the offender as God has mercy on you. So many times our hearts are congested with grudges and anger, but I suggest to you that we let the blood of Jesus purify our hearts because on judgment day Jesus will surely state, well sir/maam, I never forgave you because you never forgave others. Stop letting the enemy steal your salvation and forgive (Amen).
