For better cars, homes and jobs
Cook turkey, dressing and pies
And fuss over all the work
It is hard to remember sometimes
Why we join to give thanks
Often those with the least
Will give thanks the most
It's not about what we have
Or what we don't at times
It's remembering your blessings
And those not quite so blessed as well
So when you bow your head
Over a table full and round
Remember the homeless, the lonely
The hungry, the happy, the sad
Remember it's not about the food
It's not about turkey and desert
It's thank you for my family
My love, my life, my God
Be thankful for the pleasure of giving thanks
And having thanks to give
It is by shear blessing to us all
We have this time to reflect on how we live
