Rock and Roll Daily of Rolling Stone remembers Cohen for her eccentric ways. They record that during Season Seven of American Idol Cohen told the cameras, "I march to the beat of a different drummer."
Cohen who had aspirations to become an American Idol told the show that she had also hoped to become a veterinarian. In 2008, Cohen auditioned with Jefferson Airplane's Somebody to Love. She told the judges that her voice had often been compared to Janis Joplin and Pat Benatar.
Her audition, however, was not well received. Simon tried to be kind, telling Alexis that she could sing perhaps for a 60s cover band, but that the American Idol stage was not the right venue for her voice. Cohen did not receive the judges recommendations or criticism well, and she became well known as the girl who lost her temper shouting all kinds of profanity at the judges, and Simon Cowell in particular.
During her few solitary minutes with the American Idol Camera she spat cursings at Cowell, and swore that she would succeed, no matter what he thought of her. Rock and Roll Daily reports that Cowell had told Cohen that she reminded him of the "Spider-Man villain the Green Goblin, who was portrayed by the actor Willem Dafoe."
Cohen's poor reception by the judges at the Season Seven audition didn't dissuade her from trying to make the cut again in Season Eight. According to Rock and Roll Daily, Cohen returned for a second audition, which Cowell Called "horrendous."
While Cohen never achieved her dream of becoming America's next America Idol, her performances remain on YouTube. Alexis Cohen will be sorely missed by friends and family. At this time her funeral services have not been announcd.
