Former American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard Weds

Season two American Idol winner Ruben Studdard exited bachelorhood when he married his girlfriend of two years, Surata Zuri McCants on Saturday. According to USA Today, the ceremony was held at a church in Studdard's home state of Alabama, in a Birmingham suburb.

The ceremony reportedly lasted for about thirty minutes, with no singing coming from the sonorous singer who won the hearts of millions of Americans to capture the second season title as American Idol over Clay Aiken. Instead, a sting ensemble provided the music while vows were exchanged and prayers said for the new couple.

Studdard and his new bride had been dating for two years. They were said to have met when Ruben was at a Walmart store for his 2006 CD signing. Numbers were exchanged then, and this time rings were exchanged.

The groom looked stunning as he adorn a classic black tuxedo with white bow tie. His bride looked even more elegant in her white and ivory sleeveless wedding gown. For her bouquet, the bride has a natural color of ivory with yellowish roses.

As they exited the church, the couple walked hand in hand in happy strides. They will remain in Alabama as their home of residence. The "velvet Teddy Bear" as he was nicknamed by Gladys Knight, is set to release a new album this year. Studdard has also had movie appearances here and there, notably in one of the Scooby Doo movies.

I hope he gets back to his singing and really show why he is an Idol. Congratulations to the new couple and may your marital bliss last 'til death' do you part.
