Delgado was driving through her hometown of Tampa around 12:45AM when a police officer observed her driving erratically. After pulling her over officers asked Delgado to submit to a Breathalyzer test, which she subsequently refused to take.
As a result of her refusal to take the test she was arrested and booked into the Hillsborough County jail on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. She was released around 10AM after posting a $500 bond.
A two-time bachelor contestant, and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleader, Delgado competed for love on seasons five and six of the ABC hit reality show The Bachelor. She was chosen by Bachelor Byron Velvick a professional Bass Fisherman and commentator on ESPN at the end of season six in 2004.
Delgado, who goes by the professional name Mary Delgado, isn't a stranger to police. She was arrested in November 2007 after she punched her fiance Velvick in the mouth during an argument at a nightclub. She was arrested for assault and battery, but released shortly after. Delgado would later admit she had been drinking heavily the night of the assault.
The fight happened after Delgado and Velvick appeared together on a Bachelor reunion show. During the show when the audience was asked if the pair should still get married Velvick could be seen shaking his head "No" and laughing. It was speculated at the time this led to the fight at the nightclub the following night. The couple managed to move past the arrest, but broke up in December 2009.
Delgado was also arrested in late 2008 after drinking heavily at a Del Rio, Texas nightclub and fighting with police when they tried to arrest her.
Many viewers of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette thought Velvick made the right choice when he picked Delgado initially. The Cuban-born Delgado was first seen as a smart woman with a fun personality who seemed to be the perfect choice for Velvick.
Many believed they were destined to stay together through their troubles and end up married like popular Bachelorette couple Trista and Ryan Sutter.
