Former Child Star Shia La Beouf Makes a Big Hit with Transformers

With all of us growing up these days, the child stars of our favorite shows have grown up too. Sometimes you'll catch them on those "where are they now" episodes. Some have gone on to become adult actors, while others fade into the woodwork. Unfortunately some have fallen into the trap of drugs and alcohol and left the world too soon.

Its difficult to transition on to an adult career after enjoying the fame of being a child star. The roles are more demanding and convincing a producer of your ability to play another character sometimes is close to impossible. A lot of actors end up being typecast by certain roles and find it hard to get more challenging parts.

Well one former child star who made that transition successfully is Shia La Beouf. LaBeouf began his acting when he was 12 years old. Making his acting debut on an Episode of "Caroline in the city" in 1999. His early career was mostly small parts in television series or made-for-tv- movies. His big break came in the form of a Disney Channel series. He is well known for his portrayal of Louis Stevens in Disney Channel's Even Stevens (2000). Some of his other well known roles include; Stanley Yelnats in "Holes", Louis Stevens in the Even Stevens Movie (2003), Disturbia (2007) Eagle Eye (2008) Transformers (2007) Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (2008), and his current role in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009).

Shia began his career as a standup comic when he was very young. And with a little luck he found a manager and began working in the entertainment industry. He has a talent for being able to play almost any character and be believeable. He went from being a child star on a popular show , to becoming a highly sought after adult star. He has proven his range in acting abilities and is very popular with the media as well. Including being ranked #6 on Moviefone's 'The 25 Hottest Actors Under 25'(2008), ranked #7 on Yahoo! List of 10 Most Popular Stars of 2007 on Yahoo! Movies.(2007), and ranked #24 on Entertainment Weekly's '30 Under 30' the actors list. (2008).

He is definitely a media favorite. And with the success of the first Transformers Movie, the sequel "Transformers: Revenge Of the Fallen, promises to be just as big.

It is difficult to make this transition but I think Shia La Beouf is doing a great job.

I think he will become one of Hollywood's favorites as he diversifies his career. Remember when Tom Hanks was on Bosom Buddies and Robin Williams was Mork?
