Former Child Star, Teen Idol Leif Garrett Arrested for Drug Possession
Leif Garrett Can't Seem to Just Say NO to Drugs
Garrett, 48, has quite a history of drug-related arrests.
- In 1979, Leif Garrett was high on Quaaludes when he crashed his Porsche, leaving his best friend a paraplegic.
- In 1996, Leif declared on VH1's Behind the Music that he was drug-free. A few months later, he was arrested after buying drugs from undercover cops in Los Angeles' MacArthur Park.
- In March 2005, Leif plead guilty to possessing cocaine. He would be re-arrested later for violating the terms of his probation.
- In January 2006, Garrett was arrested after being caught riding on the Metro Red Line without a ticket. Law Enforcement found him to be in possession of Quaaludes and heroin. He was subsequently sentenced to a drug-rehab program where he would live; however, he decided the facility was "too strict" and left. He was arrested, sentenced to 90-days in jail, and three years probation.
Leif Garrett propelled to idol status with the release of his self-titled album in 1977. He appeared in a number of television series and movies, including Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band and The Outsiders.
It's always disturbing when someone who could have had it all spirals downhill like a freight train out of control. Leif certainly had the talent and could have enjoyed a lucrative music career spanning decades had he only stayed on the straight and narrow.
Does anyone else find it ironic that Leif Garrett was one of a few other "star" commentators on The Smoking Gun Presents:World's Dumbest that criticized other criminals for the crimes they were committing? I don't think the cast of character's the show pulled together is in any position to judge the antics of others when they themselves can't seem to pull their own lives together. Todd Bridges was arrested for drugs, as was Danny Bonaduce who has been arrested twice for cocaine possession, among other things.
Other stars who have seen the inside of a jail cell after being arrested for drugs include Sebastian Bach, American Idol runner-up Bo Bice, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Corey Feldman, Boy George, George Michael, Mackenzie Phillips, Amy Winehouse, and Tatum O'Neal.

Post a CommentThis poor guy. His life is spinning out of control. These child actors seem to have no boundaries, no real defense mechanisms. They seem to be socially stunted. I feel sorry for him actually.
Leif has become a loser...as a teen I thought he was the best thing since sliced bread and he told all his fans to stay away from drugs and even made a 45 record about it...look at him now!!!! Really tired of all these stars that have the world in their hands and ruin it by not wanting to cope with being famous and usually ends up dead!!!
He can't seem to pull it together. Drugs are just a slow death. I wish he could get to the root of his addiction.
Leif Garrett has been accused of a lot of things. Being smart isn't one of them.
I think he's going to have to do some serious time for him to learn, but that's not a guarantee either. He definitely needs more than a slap on the hand and 90 days locked up.
Again. You would think he would've learned a lesson.

Don't foget Tonya Harding or Sutin Diamond who also appear on the show. Tnaya did that brutal beating while still an ice skater and she has been arrested for road rage. Dustin (who make few appearances) had that pron thing while back.
