Former EBay User (Me) Banned from EBay Message Boards!

I'll Leave the Interpreatation to the Reader

Randy Smythe
As you all know by now, I told my eBay story in late Sept. and began posting articles on various topics related to eBay. At the time I also registered on eBay again so I could participate in Message Board discussions and get a feel for what buyers and sellers were thinking.

Apparently, I didn't read the rules carefully enough because as of today I am no longer allowed to post on the eBay discussion boards.

Yesterday I received the following notice from eBay:

Hello rksmythe,

Recently we became aware that your eBay registered account was involved in the following activity:

Discussion or reposting of deleted posts, warning letters, or discussion of sanctioned or no longer registered members, which is not permitted at eBay.

This is a copy of your post:

The outside links issue is something that needs to be addressed by eBay. As they appear to be morphing into a shopping portal rather than a destination. I don't think it will be addressed but it certainly needs to be. Sellers should be able to promote their outside eBay business in light of the reduced visibility in stores. Regardless, once you have a customer you can communicate with them and let them know you have another site. (Make sure to have their permission if using direct email) We used to have 5 emails got out to the customer on every order. That is 5 legitimate contacts to let them know to buy their next item on your website. If you have a webstore, start treating eBay as a customer acquisition tool. Acquire the customer on eBay give them incentives to do future business on your website.

Just my 5 Cents!

I don't have a store any longer but it used to be a big one. My ID was glacierbaydvd

We realize that you may not have been aware there was a rule against this activity. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to review our site policies, which can be found at: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/everyone-boards.html

Please understand our goal is to help you understand our policies to ensure successful experiences at eBay. Therefore, we respectfully request that you refrain from this activity in the future to avoid the possibility of a suspension of your eBay registration.

Well, based on my post I can see why they didn't want me making those types of comments on their message boards, and I would have refrained from doing thatin the future if I actually had the chance. Not more than 12 minutes later I received an additional email from eBay:

Hello rksmythe,

Recently [12 minutes ago] we became aware that your eBay registered account was involved in the following activity:

* Public Board Abuse:

Refusing to follow eBay staff instruction, which is not permitted at eBay. You have previously been warned [12 minutes ago] for inappropriate board activities, and asked to review our Board Usage Policies.

Therefore, we are revoking all privileges of posting on any eBay board or groups, for an indefinite period of time. During this time you may continue to bid and to list your auctions. Please note that any violation of this sanction, by using an alternate ID to post on any eBay board, or to report posts for violations will result in the suspension of your eBay account, including all buying and selling privileges.

Okay, so when I registered my name I thought this might happen but what amazed me is the selective enforcement. I have been reading the message boards for eight months straight and every rule that I supposedly broke is broken on a daily basis, and those posters are still free to post their comments.

I decided not to add anything more to this article and instead allow my readers to post their comments on what they think is the real reason I was suspended. Fire away!

We are represented by an attorney who, I believe, recently received documentary evidence that conclusively proves that eBay deliberately manipulated Detailed Seller Rankings (DSRs) to intentionally exclude numerous sellers from their platform. The evidence received also shows that eBay deceives Sellers of the true picture of their Policy Compliance on its Dashboards by “hiding” the actual status. Such actions, at the very least, are unethical and possibly criminal.
THE ATTORNEY’S LETTER REGARDING THIS EVIDENCE WAS FILED WITH THE COURT

I have been with ebay for over 10 years and I agree with jp. ebay dictates to it's sellers what to do, how to do it and doesn't protect sellers. If it wasn't for needing the money, I would tell ebay to get lost. you can never call anyone from ebay to complain or get help. very poor customer support. I am really surprised they are still in business. ebay needs to be taken down.

I am an ebay member but it hasn't been a pleasant experience for the six years. It becomes more of an authoritarian place for people to tell you what to do rather than the pleasant experience it was when they started. about two years ago i got suspended when they change the feedback exchange, i receive a strings of negative feedback for senseless reason and to make matters worse, my shop had flooded from a frozen pipe above me and had to cancel over 30 transactions that i had to ship the following monday. I called ebay and explain what happened; i faxed them police report, insurance papers, and other documents but they didn't care. they said they would never never let me back on the site. i was suspended for a year and 3 months. During that time i put a plan together to build my own site and end the nonsense. This year the project is finally complete, it is up and running. we are very one of the best Ebay alternative out there and we welcome anybody whose been cast out off ebay to join

For those of you who were banned from eBay. Check out www.LootSlinger.com. It's a new auction community. One of the biggest complaints with eBay is that they don't have a number to call or you get lost in customer service hell. LootSlinger has a number to call posted on it website. There is also open communication between buyer and seller so you know who you are dealing with.

I too was banned.. I still to this day don't know why, I was selling things and they said I didn't pay some money when I closed my account which was NOT true. Whatever, i'll never deal with them again.

    Hi,

I started an ebay account with my business partner (cleaning business), basically so that we could buy stuff like cheap mops and what not and ended up selling quite a few things on there. I had her set it up in her name and then i ended up using it a lot more then she did. we decided to go a different ways with our business so we closed her account, and then I opened my own account. I was then immediately banned because I was selling similar items but using a different account. They wont even list a phone number to call. It blows my mind how ebay operates. They said "Your eBay account has been suspended indefinitely" and that they will not respond to any more emails from me. Is there anything i can do?

I like this the new Ebay discussion board!! Yhea i was just banned from reading the ebay feedback board here is what i got this morning LOL : Error: you do not have permission to view the requested forum or category.

whatever because i gave them my opinion of how their new feedback rules are one sided and told the truth ummm the sellers made ebay !! SELLERS SHOULD BAN TOGETHER PICK A NEW SITE and the buyers will follow just like they did with ebay.. then sellers can kick back watch ebay turn into the junk electronic site that it is trying to do by creating rules that are suspending small sellers with a 100% feedback because ohh your DSR fell below 4.whatever!!! ohh and i think i mentioned sit back and LOL as Ebays stock continues to fall daily!! and a new websites kicks off!!

I guess they didnt like the truth cuz i can no longer READ the boards but yhea the proxy ip address change is not a bad idea ..LOL

if you sell bebe stuff on ebay be aware imarriedmylawyer** seller is bebe_for_less and bebestyle2007 and other names too . she has many shill names. she wears the stuff she sells then puts em on ebay as new with tags. if you sell same items she'll buy it, then leave you negative feedback saying stinks of smoke she is a known thief posing as a lawyer she gets family friends and dozens of names to buy from the new sellers that she thinks she can discourage and they all start leaving or hinting of same feedback. if you leave her a negative she really gives you one back in green saying negative, negative she goes postal cause she cant rob many more people cause they been alerted this message is for those who are unsuspecting. I agree with the poster above she
buys all bebe damaged from flea markets outlets thrift shops wears them cause they stink glues the stones back on and steals your money she is a nightmare the worst! beware buyers she is not a lawyer she charges you 12x's more
