Former Minnesota Governor, Jesse Ventura, Files Lawsuit in Regards to Airport Security Procedures

The 38th governor of Minnesota and pro-wrestler, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Minnesota against the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA claiming the new enhanced airport security measures are unconstitutional. The suit alleges that the new procedures violate his rights under the Fourth Amendment, which protects Americans from unreasonable searches and seizures.

According to Ventura's attorney, Jesse "The Body", is not seeking any monetary damages. He just wants an acknowledgment from the court that his rights were violated and a court order that would stop the government from subjecting him to the procedures.

Former governor, Jesse Ventura, had hip replacement surgery in 2008 and the titanium implant routinely sets off the metal detectors, requiring him to undergo pat-down searches, which he claims are "demeaning, degrading, warrantless, non-suspicion-based electronically recorded strip search" and meets the definition of unlawful video voyeurism. It also raises health concerns about repeated exposure to radiation produced by the machines, he claims. Ventura argues that he should be granted "trusted passenger status" when he flies because of his status and medical condition, an option he was not given he claims.

The TSA states on its website that the devices have been deemed safe by a number of organizations including the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health and the National Institute for Standards and Technology. All results confirmed the radiation doses for the individuals screened and anyone around them were well below the dose limits specified by the American National Standards Institute, it states.

Jesse Ventura, the former governor of Minnesota has been well known for his controversial views on a number issues including politics. He is currently host of a TV program called "Conspiracy Theory" and claims in his lawsuit that he needs to fly 2 to 3 times a week for his work. His professional schedule means he must either submit to these routine airport searches or retire from his television work and forgo his income, the lawsuit said.

Jesse "The Body" Ventura has been a member of the World Wrestling Federation for a number of years and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2004. With his impressive line of credentials including veteran, Navy UDT, radio and TV talk show host, former Mn. governor and pro-wrestler, we'll all anxiously wait and see how this "Pat-Down, Smackdown turns out.
